Waar ligt de grens tussen getuige zijn en ware ervaring? Tussen externe en interne migratie? Tussen Amsterdam en Birobidzhan?
Queer Quark is een artistieke verkenning van een migrantenkunstenaar die in een gespleten bestaan leeft - tussen thuisland en ballingschap, vrijheid en schuld, overleven en creëren.
De tekst, live pianomuziek, luchtacrobatiek en video creëren een gelaagde ruimte waarin een persoonlijk verhaal universeel wordt.
Queer Quark is geen verhaal over migratie.
Het is een verhaal van keuze.
Het Queer Quark-collectief verenigt kunstenaars die gedwongen zijn gemigreerd en gevestigd zijn in Nederland en Europa.
Evgeniya Rudyuk is theater- en filmkunstenaar. Haar portfolio omvat bekroonde films en theaterproducties: The Lamb (2024) ontving de prijs voor Beste Script op het Saint Anna International Festival en Kokice (2025) werd geselecteerd voor het Internationaal Filmfestival van Moskou. Evgeniya werkt met sterke experimenten, genre-overschrijdende kunst en de zoektocht naar nieuwe narratieve vormen.
Maria Nemtsova is een internationaal geprezen concertpianiste, met optredens in Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw, Kings Place, Steinway Hall en andere gerenommeerde zalen. Ze is medeoprichter van het liefdadigheidsproject "Music for Peace" en curator van de concerten van de Pavel Kushnir Foundation. Anastasia Reshetnikova is een Europese actrice, alumna van Berlinale Talents en stemgerechtigd lid van de European Film Academy.
Natalia (Natasha) Smyslova is een luchtacrobate, sportpersoon, tweevoudig wereldkampioen en houder van twee wereldrecords.
Polina Ertel is een multimediakunstenaar en student aan de Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Ze werkt met installaties, performancekunst, video en beeldcreatie en onderzoekt generatiegebonden herinneringen en trauma's.
Polina Mirovskaya is een danskunstenaar en bewegingsregisseur die werkt met choreografie, fotografie, film en theater.
Lidia Sinelnik is zelf videokunstenaar, decorontwerper en theaterregisseur, met een focus op documentairemateriaal, locatiegebonden formats en artistiek onderzoek.
What is the border between witnessing and true experience? Between external and internal migration? Between Amsterdam and Birobidzhan?
Queer Quark is an artistic exploration of a migrant artist living in a state of split existence - between homeland and exile, freedom and guilt, survival and creation.
The text, live piano music, aerial choreography and video create a multi-layered space where a personal story becomes universal.
Queer Quark is not a story about migration.
It's a story of choice.
BIOGRAPHY
Queer Quark collective unites forced migrant artists based in the Netherlands and across Europe. Evgeniya Rudyuk is a theatre and film artist. Her portfolio includes award-winning films and theatre works: The Lamb (2024) received Best Script at the Saint Anna International Festival, and Kokice (2025) was selected for the Moscow International Film Festival. Evgeniya works through strong experimentation, genre-bending, and the search for new narrative forms.
Maria Nemtsova is an internationally acclaimed concert pianist, with performances at Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw, Kings Place, Steinway Hall, and other renowned venues. She is the co-founder of the charity project "Music for Peace" and curator of Pavel Kushnir Foundation concerts. Anastasia Reshetnikova is a European actress, Berlinale Talents alumna, and voting member of the European Film Academy.
Natalia “Natasha” Smyslova is an aerial performer, sportsperson, two-time world champion, and holder of two world records.
Polina Ertel is a multimedia artist, Gerrit Rietveld Academie student. Working across installation, performance, video, and image-making, she explores generational memory and trauma.
Polina Mirovskaya is a dance artist and movement director working across choreography, photography, film, and theatre.
Lidia Sinelnik is a video artist, set designer and theatre director herself, focusing on documentary material, site-specific formats, and artistic research.
